CannaBoss Lady Menopause Workshop
As first shared on The Village Green:
In honor of World Menopause Day & Women’s History Month, we’ve decided to move the original date of September 28th to October 18th, same time; same place.
World Menopause Day is observed on October 18 every year to raise awareness about the impact the condition has on the lives of women around the world. Despite affecting about half of the world’s population, menopause isn’t talked about as much as it should be. Observing the day is also an opportunity to encourage further medical research on the condition.
HISTORY OF WORLD MENOPAUSE DAY
World Menopause Day was established in 1984 by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Menopause Society (IMS) with the intention of spreading awareness about this condition that affects women as they age.
Menopause is a term used to describe the natural decline of a woman’s reproductive hormones, beginning between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body experiences its last menstrual cycle.
Common symptoms of menopause include hot flashes, night sweats, mood changes, and sleep disturbances. All of these symptoms can result in an increase in anxiety and depression. After menopause, women are more at risk of developing conditions like heart disease and osteoporosis.
If you are confused about or have been struggling through menopause then this is the workshop for you!
We will cover:
– What is happening to your body and why
– How to manage your symptoms
– Simple changes you can make to help you feel your best
– CBD products that can help
This is designed to be a fun interactive workshop where you can meet other amazing women & connect through your shared experiences. You will leave feeling INVIGORATED & EMPOWERED!
Cannabis Social Equity & Expungement Clinic
As seen in TapintoSOMA
MAPLEWOOD, NJ - On Wednesday, September 21st, 2022, SOMA Action Cannabis Equity Initiative Committee will host a social equity and expungement event at The Woodland in Maplewood. This event is designed to address the disparate impact that cannabis arrests have on minority communities. Criminal records can have a debilitating generational impact on the lives and livelihoods of individuals and their families. Formerly incarcerated people often suffer from restricted access to employment, housing, banking, education, professional opportunities, and voting.
According to committee member Jill Cohen, Founder of TheCannaBossLady and Cannabis Dispensary License Awardee, "cannabis usage is nearly identical across all racial groups, but arrests for cannabis disproportionately affect communities of color. We need to support the legacy operators who created this industry and their families who were affected by the war on drugs."
The CannaBoss Lady to Host Full Moon Circle, Tarot Readings, and Tibetan Singing Bowls
Moon Circle connects you with like-minded women, to form friendships, and experience the magic of sisterhood.
You can be yourself, speak your truth, and feel confident and comfortable within your body.
this circle is a sanctuary for women who are craving a safe, authentic space, free of judgment. For we have been judged, criticized, and shamed for lifetimes.
We are here to support each other, as we share our hopes, dreams, and struggles; and be a part of our healing and transformation.
A moon circle not only builds a community, and has the power to heal all the women in the circle, but has the power to extend that healing to each of those women’s wider communities and create a far-reaching ripple effect that changes the world.

The CannaBoss Lady Opens Maplewood's First CBD Dispensary
This article first appeared as 'The CannaBoss Lady officially cut the ribbon on her business this past weekend' in Tap into SOMA by Alia C. Covel, on June 17, 2021.
MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Chocolates, relaxation aids, and skin serums don't usually have anything in common. But at Maplewood's newest business, The CannaBoss Lady, one can find these products and more enhanced with CBD.
Owner Jill Cohen started by selling CBD (which stands for cannabidiol) products online in 2018. CBD is a chemical within the cannabis plant but does not contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive part of marijuana that produces a high. “I started out on the ancillary side where I was offering sales and event management to cannabis businesses. And then I became a brand ambassador for two brands that I sell in my shop, and loved that side of the business.”
She saw a vacancy in what Maplewood Village shops had to offer and wanted to fill it. Even though “everyone thought I was crazy for opening a shop in the middle of the pandemic, and in the winter,” Cohen had confidence and said, “I don't care, I'm doing this!”
She looked in several close-by towns for storefront locations but kept coming back to the Highland Place location as her best option. The shop had a soft opening in February and has had brisk sales. The bright color palette and uncluttered shelves, plus Cohen's knowledge of her range of products, make for a pleasant shopping experience. She is even dog-friendly and hopes to do a dog photoshoot event soon.
With her best girlfriends and family beside her, Cohen cut the ribbon on her “dream come true.”
“To see my vision come to life has been an amazing experience, an awesome journey,” she said.
Deputy Mayor Dean Dafis, who is the Township Committee liaison to the Maplewood Village business community, said how proud he was of Cohen. “Not only is this a female-owned business — and we always need more of that — but what you're doing here is promoting more health and wellness in our community, and taking away the stigma of cannabis.... What you're doing here is not just retail, you're building community.”

How One Woman-Owned NJ Cannabis Shop is Leading the Wave After Legalization
Even with a legal marijuana law now on the books in New Jersey, it will be months, maybe even longer, before you see weed shops opening up in your town. Regulations need to be made by a five-member commission and licenses approved.
With the prospect of plenty of money to be made, there’s plenty of interest in the nascent industry. Some entrepreneurs have already dipped their toe in the water, selling hemp and CBD (cannabidiol) products. Correspondent Leah Mishkin takes us to The Canna Boss Lady in Maplewood, one of the first women-owned cannabis shops in the state.
