Moon ritual is a chance to look inward, grow

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — The moon was full, pink and in Libra; the perfect time to look inward and reflect.
That’s what Jill Cohen, owner of Elevated by the Cannaboss Lady dispensary, told the dozen women who gathered for a full moon ritual on Thursday, April 6.
“It is the first full moon of Spring, just after the equinox,” Cohen said, before describing crystals used to create a ceremonial experience. “We have the moon stone to transition into an intuitive mind and be more aware of our emotions, selenite removes negativity and gives you permission to go inward. Rose quartz for love, harmony, balance and unconditional love.”
After discussing the meaning of the event, Cohen led a reading.
“A moon circle is a sisterhood of like-minded women joining forces and effort to embrace their divine truth and share in healing and transformation,” Cohen said. “Together we create a warm and inviting environment that allows us to journey into the depths of our core and let our spirits free. Here, there is no judgment but rather an empowering experience to connect within ourselves and each other on a deeper level.”Cohen also discussed the importance of building a community that uplifts and supports one another, which she has created for herself and others through this monthly ritual.
“It is an honor to be a part of a sacred sisterhood that embraces without unwavering love as we heal and rise together,” Cohen said.Cohen then explained how her readings are inspired by the works and words of holistic healers and astrologists that she has studied and researched throughout the years.
“My readings are a compilation of work from astrologists and healers,” Cohen said. “The pink moon is a nod to the bountiful blooming flowers and trees that the weather brings,” Cohen said. “The pink moon gets its name from a hot pink wildflower called ‘phlox subulata’ that grows in a thick mat of vibrant foliage commonly referred to as ‘creeping phlox’, or pink moss.”The ritual became a time of reflection for those in attendance.
“This moon is to review our relationships with others and decide if they are limiting or supporting us,” Cohen said. “It is a time to encourage others to find their life’s journey and determine how to walk our individual paths together.”The ritual was also an opportunity to let go of past harms, bad behaviors and individuals who do not benefit you for those attending.
“In order for everyone to feel that their mission is honored, supported and respected, there needs to be compromise, conscious listening and a willingness to let go,” Cohen said. We take on other people’s energy, emotions and thoughts when we are around them because energy is contagious. When we allow others to affect our energy, emotions and thoughts, we lose control of our peace.”
Sasha Greer discussed how your relationship with yourself influences the people you attract and the relationships that you develop with them.
“The relationship that you have with yourself determines the relationships that you have with everyone else around you,” Greer said. “We invite others to love and treat us the exact same way that we treat ourselves. If we are not honoring how we feel or being patient and compassionate with ourselves, there is no way that we can give grace to others.”
Greer also discussed the power of self-autonomy and the need to assess where you are in life and who you are affecting with your path in life.
“Instead of blaming someone else and giving your power away, you take your power back when you ask yourself where am I in my own way,” Greer said. After the reading and preparation for the ritual was completed, Greer led the group in a cleansing meditation using Tibetan sound bowls. After the meditation completed, Cohen led the group in a journaling session by asking the attendants four questions to reflect on.
“The first question is what are things that you need to accept about yourself to receive love?” Cohen said. “The second question is what does a healthy relationship look like to you? The third question is what are things that emotionally trigger you? The last question is what helps you set and uphold clear boundaries?”
After the full moon ritual was completed, attendants had the option to have either a solo guided reiki meditation led by Greer, a tarot card reading led by guest Alexandra Drouhet, or both.

How Do I Choose the Best CBD to Use?
Unfortunately, the market today is flooded with CBD products. While many are excellent formulations from very reputable vendors, many products are of questionable quality. Here are some tips for how consumers can locate truth within the product packaging to ensure you choose a quality product:
- Make sure the amount of CBD in the bottle (in mg) is clearly displayed on the package or bottle.
- Make sure the total volume of CBD oil is clearly printed on the bottle.
- Determine whether the CBD is cannabis or hemp-derived. Also determine where the hemp is grown, and whether it is grown by a state-regulated supplier.
- Make sure to determine whether the hemp is organic or non-organic.
- Determine the reputation of the company and ensure the cleanliness of the product.
- The extraction method used to separate the CBD from the hemp plant should be plainly labeled; common extraction methods are ethanol, butane, and CO2. The CO2 extraction method is generally regarded as the “cleanest” method and the one that preserves the greatest quantity of cannabinoids.

What is the Best Way to Use CBD
There are many factors to consider when trying to determine the form of CBD that will work best for you. First and foremost, you want to consider what you’re using CBD for, and always make sure you get a quality product.
In general, there are five forms of CBD.
- Topical CBD comes in creams, oils, salves, and balms. There are many cannabinoid receptors in the skin, so this form of CBD is generally fast-acting.
- Tinctures are extracted using several techniques including the CO2 method and the ethanol method. All of the extraction techniques are designed to preserve as many of cannabinoids as possible. Tinctures are generally taken orally, but can also be mixed into food or drink. The fastest-acting tinctures are those taken sublingually (under the tongue). When taken in this fashion, the effects kick in after 15 to 45 minutes.
- Edibles are also very popular because they taste great, are easy to use and are also discrete. CBD is usually infused into a baked good or smoothie to transform it into an edible. Many people find it is easier to dose CBD with an edible. Since edibles, in general, have a higher concentration of CBD, this is a great way to take higher CBD doses. If the edible has a sufficient quantity of another oil or fat, such as coconut oil, that formulation generally increases CBD’s bioavailability.
- Oral CBD in the form of drops, sprays, and capsules represents another ingestion method. They’re easy to use. Capsules are quickly digested, and drops or sprays of CBD under the tongue are very fast-acting. Many oils and oral sprays are flavored to mask the earthiness of natural CBD.
- Vaping is certainly another way to ingest CBD. While inhalation has been deemed a very effective method, there have been many recent serious lung health hazards attributed to vaping and vaping additives, so caution is warranted.
CannaBoss Lady Menopause Workshop
As first shared on The Village Green:
In honor of World Menopause Day & Women’s History Month, we’ve decided to move the original date of September 28th to October 18th, same time; same place.
World Menopause Day is observed on October 18 every year to raise awareness about the impact the condition has on the lives of women around the world. Despite affecting about half of the world’s population, menopause isn’t talked about as much as it should be. Observing the day is also an opportunity to encourage further medical research on the condition.
HISTORY OF WORLD MENOPAUSE DAY
World Menopause Day was established in 1984 by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Menopause Society (IMS) with the intention of spreading awareness about this condition that affects women as they age.
Menopause is a term used to describe the natural decline of a woman’s reproductive hormones, beginning between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body experiences its last menstrual cycle.
Common symptoms of menopause include hot flashes, night sweats, mood changes, and sleep disturbances. All of these symptoms can result in an increase in anxiety and depression. After menopause, women are more at risk of developing conditions like heart disease and osteoporosis.
If you are confused about or have been struggling through menopause then this is the workshop for you!
We will cover:
– What is happening to your body and why
– How to manage your symptoms
– Simple changes you can make to help you feel your best
– CBD products that can help
This is designed to be a fun interactive workshop where you can meet other amazing women & connect through your shared experiences. You will leave feeling INVIGORATED & EMPOWERED!
